“just a reminder. in between.”
For my Introduction to Human Values in Design course, I was given a week to create a video “telling a story, demonstrating a problem, and showing its solution.” It was supposed to be shot on an iPhone and have minimal dialogue. I chose to demonstrate the struggle of losing touch with long distance friends in the hustle of everyday life and an ever-growing to-do list. I storyboarded, starred in, and edited the video, which I had a friend film on my iPhone 13.

middle of july.
I sat down one evening, in recovery from five days of spring flu fever, and decided that my fixation on perfection, especially when it came to music, was holding me back. With a raspy voice and mild congestion, I spent my evening recording and producing ‘middle of july’, a song I’d written the day before. Despite the stuffy recording, dissonant harmonies, and rough production, this project embodies exactly what it was meant to: a willingness to experiement and make mistakes, and a contentness with imperfection.
